Kyiv protesters demand resignation of Mayor Vitali Klitschko

Hundreds of protesters gathered in front of the Kyiv City State Administration building to demand the resignation of Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Demonstrators expressed frustration over the city's perceived lack of preparedness for the upcoming winter, particularly regarding energy and water infrastructure amid ongoing Russian attacks.

Protesters cited several systemic issues, including a lack of adequate bomb shelters, insufficient alternative power supplies for heating and water systems, and corruption. Other grievances included the degradation of public transport, the destruction of green spaces for urban development, and mismanagement of municipal funds. Some participants also criticized the increase in public transport fares.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently criticized the municipal administration, stating that winter preparedness in many other regions of Ukraine is more effective than in the capital. In response, Klitschko has rejected the allegations of negligence, arguing that the city's challenges are primarily driven by Russian strikes on essential infrastructure and accusing central authorities of attempting to shift responsibility onto the local government.
