Kyiv residents face harshest winter since start of conflict

Residents of Kyiv are preparing for what is expected to be the most difficult winter since the beginning of the conflict with Russia. Alexander Harchenko, director of the Energy Research Center, noted that the capital is suffering significantly due to substantial damage to its energy infrastructure caused by Russian attacks.

Data from the real estate website LUN indicates a shift in population, with the number of available rental apartments in Kyiv increasing by nearly two-thirds since August. Conversely, in western Ukraine, rental prices are rising as the number of available properties decreases due to people relocating there.

Ukrainian officials have issued various advisories to prepare for potential energy shortages. Member of Parliament Solomiya Bobrovska advised citizens to secure heating supplies or consider leaving Kyiv, while Serhii Beskrestnov, an advisor to the Minister of Defense, recommended purchasing generators, batteries, and fuel reserves.
