Kyiv school and bridge hit by Russian drone strikes

Russian drone strikes targeted several key locations in Kyiv and surrounding regions. A drone struck a school in the capital, causing a fire on an upper floor; however, officials reported that students and staff were sheltering at the time, and no injuries were immediately reported. The school director, Valentyna Khorna, noted that over 100 students were present during the incident.

In addition to the school, drones struck the Pivdennyi (South) Bridge, a critical transport link over the Dnipro River. The attacks led to a temporary suspension of metro services and ground public transport across the bridge while specialists inspected the structure for damage.

Other reported incidents include a drone strike on a nuclear research facility in Kyiv, which caused a fire but left the test reactor undamaged. In the broader Kyiv region, authorities reported that 42 buildings were damaged and six people were injured. Elsewhere, an air attack in the port city of Odessa injured one person at a shopping center.

Ukrainian officials noted an increase in Russian drone activity, with 3,177 attacks recorded through September 29. The strikes appear to be part of an intensified campaign targeting Ukrainian energy and civilian infrastructure.
