Kyiv targeted by Russian ballistic missiles amid new arms deal
Russia launched ballistic missile attacks on Kyiv, causing explosions and fires in two city districts, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The Ukrainian Air Force also reported strikes involving glide bombs and drones across other regions.
In response to a US-Turkish arms deal, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the transaction would only delay the end of the current Kyiv regime. The deal includes US-produced artillery weapons and 70 ATACMS missiles being acquired by Ukraine through Turkey.
Meanwhile, Russian opposition politician Boris Nadezhdin has entered exile in Paris. Nadezhdin, who has been a vocal critic of the war in Ukraine, stated he left Russia via Kazakhstan on July 22 to avoid criminal prosecution and health risks associated with potential imprisonment. He noted that the political space for criticizing the war in Russia has vanished.
