Kyiv to invest 1 billion hryvnias in new Dnipro river crossings

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced that the city will allocate 1 billion hryvnias (approximately 20 million euros) to create new crossings over the Dnipro river. This initiative follows a wave of Russian attacks targeting the capital's infrastructure.

One of the city's six primary bridges, the Pivdennyi Bridge, was recently struck by four Iskander ballistic missiles. The damage to this bridge is particularly critical as it carries a metro line and serves thousands of residents for their daily commutes. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure as a “serious escalation.”

In addition to the missile strike, other bridges in the capital have been targeted by Russian drones. The municipal council is currently reviewing plans for new infrastructure to ensure the continued movement of citizens between the two banks of the river.
