Kyle Cummins wins opening night of USAC Sprint Car Smackdown

The 15th annual USAC National Sprint Car Smackdown event is underway at Kokomo Speedway in Indiana, featuring over 50 drivers competing over three nights from August 27 to August 29.

Kyle Cummins secured the victory on the first night of the event. Despite noting that he had not been feeling well during the week and describing his car as having unusual handling characteristics, Cummins managed to pass Kevin Thomas Jr. with 24 laps remaining in the 30-lap feature.

The multi-day event offers a championship night payday exceeding $30,000. Notable competitors in the field include five-time Smackdown champion Justin Grant and Kevin Thomas Jr., both of whom have significant historical success at the Kokomo track.
