Kyle Kirkwood wins IndyCar Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington D.C

Kyle Kirkwood secured victory for Andretti Global at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, held on a temporary 1.7-mile street circuit around Washington D.C.'s National Mall. Kirkwood led 128 of the 147 laps, finishing over three seconds ahead of Christian Lundgaard, with Will Power rounding out the podium.

The race had significant implications for the championship standings, as Kirkwood gained 42 points on leader Alex Palou, extending the title race through the 15th of 18 rounds. The event featured high drama, including six neutralization periods and 155 total overtakes.

Beyond the track, the race achieved historic viewership numbers on FOX. Averaging 3.282 million viewers, it became the most-watched IndyCar race outside of the Indianapolis 500 since the series reunification in 2008.
