Kyle Ryde wins Thruxton BSB race as Max Cook hospitalized after crash

Kyle Ryde secured victory in the first British Superbike Championship race at Thruxton, but the event was prematurely ended due to a serious accident involving Max Cook.

After dominating qualifying with a pole position lap of 1:14.505, Ryde engaged in a competitive battle with Scott Redding. While Redding initially led, Ryde eventually took the lead. However, the race was red-flagged on lap 17 following a heavy crash by Bimota rider Max Cook at the exit of turn 14.

Following contact with Leon Haslam, Cook experienced a brief period of unconsciousness. He was treated by the BSB medical team at the circuit before being transferred to Southampton hospital for specialist review and further investigation.

With the race stopped and not restarted, the results were declared final. Rory Skinner and Ryan Vickers completed the podium in second and third place, respectively.
