Jordan Walker Wins 2026 Home Run Derby, First Cardinal Champion

The 2026 MLB Home Run Derby was held at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia under a new swing‑based format that eliminated the timed clock. St. Louis Cardinals right‑fielder Jordan Walker captured the title, defeating hometown favorite Kyle Schwarber 12‑11 in the final round. Walker’s comeback included four consecutive homers on his last swings, earning him a $1 million prize and making him the first Cardinal ever to win the Derby and the second‑youngest champion in its history.

Willson Contreras (Boston Red Sox) and Tampa Bay’s Junior Caminero each posted the longest hits of the night, with balls traveling 490 feet and 491 feet respectively. The event featured a sold‑out crowd, a live introduction by ring announcer Michael Buffer, and was streamed for the first time on Netflix. Other notable participants included Bryce Harper, Ben Rice, Munetaka Murakami and Jac Caglianone, all of whom were eliminated before the final. Walker’s victory adds a $1 million bonus to his $799,400 salary and highlights his dramatic swing transformation that has made him one of the league’s most explosive hitters.
