Kyler Murray Signs with Minnesota Vikings, Targets Comeback Player Honors

Quarterback Kyler Murray, the 2019 first‑overall pick, has joined the Minnesota Vikings and will compete with J.J. McCarthy for the starting role. ESPN analyst Mike Tannenbaum projects that Murray could win the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award in 2026 if he secures the job, citing the Vikings' offensive weapons—receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison and coach Kevin O’Connell’s system.

Murray arrives after a mixed tenure with the Arizona Cardinals, including a foot injury in 2025 that limited him to five games (68.3% completion, 962 yards, six touchdowns). His 2024 season was stronger (68.8% completion, 3,851 yards, 21 TDs). The Vikings hope his dual‑threat ability, now backed by a stronger supporting cast, will improve the team’s prospects beyond its 9‑8 record in 2025.
