Real Madrid and France striker Kylian Mbappé has addressed two major topics in recent interviews with France Football and L’Équipe: his candidacy for the 2026 Ballon d'Or and viral AI-generated memes depicting him as a dictator.

Regarding the memes, which often show him in military uniforms or alongside historical figures like Josef Stalin, Mbappé expressed mixed emotions. While acknowledging that some view the images as harmless jokes, he noted that being compared to figures who caused mass suffering and death is problematic. He stated that such content sometimes demonstrates a “lack of political and human awareness” among people.

On the sporting front, Mbappé has declared himself a top candidate for the Ballon d'Or. He cited his performance in the 2026 World Cup, where he became the tournament's all-time leading scorer with 22 goals, as a primary argument. Despite not having won major club trophies with Real Madrid yet, he believes his individual achievements and goal-scoring record distinguish him from other players.
