Kylian Mbappé says he is fine as French coach backs him after Paraguayan senator’s racist remarks

After Paraguay’s 1‑0 defeat to France in the 2026 World Cup knockout stage, Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla called French striker Kylian Mbappé a “colonised Cameroonian”. Mbappé responded by describing her as “a despicable woman unfit for office”. The French Football Federation said it will file a criminal complaint over the alleged racist comments.

France manager Didier Deschamps said Mbappé is mentally strong and focused on the upcoming quarter‑final against Morocco, adding that the player is “fine”. The Paraguayan Senate voted to condemn Amarilla’s remarks, reaffirming a stance against racism and discrimination.
