Kylian Mbappé targeted in French kidnapping plot

French authorities have disrupted a criminal plot targeting high-profile individuals, including Real Madrid and French national team star Kylian Mbappé. Investigators discovered a list of 26 potential targets, including wealthy businesspeople, jewelers, and musicians, during an investigation into a series of organized crimes.

The suspected mastermind is an 18-year-old identified as Clément L., also known by the pseudonym ‘Lester Z’. Authorities allege that Clément L. managed the group’s activities from within a prison cell using Snapchat. The investigation was triggered following a series of incidents, including a failed attempt to target a watchmaker in Neuilly-sur-Seine and an armed robbery in Paris where luxury watches valued at approximately 150,000 euros were stolen.

Clément L. was arrested after leaving a court in Bobigny and has since been placed in solitary confinement. While he has acknowledged some involvement, he has attempted to minimize his role, claiming he acted merely as an intermediary between a mysterious leader and the group's executors. Police have also detained a second suspect believed to be linked to the vehicles used in the operations.
