Shakira thanks Kylian Mbappé for his role in World Cup 2026 anthem video
Just before the France‑Morocco quarter‑final in Boston on 9 July 2026, Colombian singer Shakira posted an Instagram video thanking French captain Kylian Mbappé. She said he was the first footballer to agree to appear in the clip for “Dai Dai”, the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup that she co‑wrote with Burna Boy. Shakira praised French fans, shared a selfie with Mbappé’s father Wilfried, and sent “bisous bisous” to her French audience.
The “Dai Dai” video, released in May, has amassed more than two million likes and also features Lionel Messi, Harry Kane and Vinícius Júnior. It will be performed at the World Cup final’s halftime show in New York. Mbappé, who scored in the 2‑0 win over Morocco, has been defending himself against a series of racist attacks by Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla, which have prompted a Paris prosecutor’s investigation for public insult and hate provocation. In a related legal commentary, Guillermo Duarte, Amarilla’s lawyer, suggested the possibility of seeking Mbappé’s extradition to Paraguay, though experts said such a move is highly unlikely.
