Kyma Ambiente appointment faces ANAC scrutiny in Taranto
The appointment of Gaetano Nacci as sole administrator of Kyma Ambiente, a strategic municipal company in Taranto, has drawn the attention of the National Anti-Corruption Authority (ANAC). Opposition city councilor Luca Lazzàro (Fratelli d’Italia) filed a report requesting verification of the appointment made on July 29, 2026.
Lazzàro raised concerns regarding potential conflicts of interest, noting that company records suggest Nacci held leadership roles in other waste management and disposal firms within Puglia and the Taranto area at the time of his appointment. The request for investigation includes checking for incompatibilities, the completeness of declarations, and any existing economic or commercial relationships between Kyma Ambiente and those other entities.
Local officials have defended the process. Gianni Cataldino, the assessor for participated companies, stated that the procedure was regular and rejected the doubts raised by the opposition. Kyma Ambiente is currently undergoing a difficult financial restructuring phase, with reports suggesting debts exceeding 43 million euros.
