Kyobo Asset Management rebrands after ending 18-year joint venture
Kyobo Asset Management has officially changed its name from Kyobo AXA Asset Management, marking the end of an 18-year joint venture between Kyobo Life Insurance and France-based AXA Investment Managers. The transition follows Kyobo Life Insurance's acquisition of the 50% stake previously held by BNP Paribas Asset Management Holding for 107.5 billion won, making the firm a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Kyobo Financial Group.
Following this restructuring, the company plans to expand its role as a specialized asset management entity within the group. Key strategic focuses include growing its Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) business, strengthening retirement pension services, and enhancing solutions for institutional clients. As an initial step toward this new direction, the firm recently listed the ‘Power SK Group ETF’ on the stock market, which targets SK Group companies involved in AI, semiconductors, and energy.
The company will also reorganize its internal structure to better integrate product development, sales, and customer solutions, aiming to leverage the group's long-term customer base and global network to boost overall asset management competitiveness.
