Kyocera forecasts semiconductor equipment parts demand to 2030, plans expansion in Japan
Kyocera President Shiro Sakushima told Nikkei that demand for semiconductor manufacturing equipment components is expected to keep growing up to around 2030, driven by AI and broader chip production needs. The company said it will closely evaluate order volumes to avoid premature stockpiling and will only expand capacity when genuine customer demand is confirmed.
Kyocera plans to open a new plant in Isahaya, Nagasaki Prefecture in September 2026 to produce ceramic parts and semiconductor packaging. It also announced a seven‑year, ¥1 trillion (about $6.5 billion) investment to expand production of compact, high‑capacity multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) for AI servers, with the goal of tripling output by March 2031. The firm highlighted ongoing concerns about power consumption and intends to work with customers to address technical challenges.
