Super League 2026/27: Persija wins three straight as Java United faces heavy sanctions
Persija Jakarta has secured a perfect start to the 2026/2027 Super League season, winning three consecutive matches against Borneo FC, Persib Bandung, and Java United FC. Kyohei Yoshino, now playing as a wing-back, noted that while the three wins are a strong start, the team must improve its dominance to reach its highest targets.
In contrast, Java United FC faces significant disciplinary action from the PSSI Disciplinary Committee following crowd disturbances during their match against Persija. The club, along with players and officials, has been fined a total of Rp760 million. Specifically, technical director Achmad Resal Octavian received a Rp500 million fine and a 10-match ban for discriminatory remarks. Players Yakob Sayuri and Yance Sayuri were also suspended for four matches.
Elsewhere in the league, Persib Bandung is managing the absence of goalkeeper coach Mario Jozic, who returned to Croatia for medical treatment following an injury sustained during the match against Persija. Meanwhile, Persebaya Surabaya has resumed training under coach Bernardo Tavares, focusing on physical conditioning during the competition break to prepare for their upcoming match against Isenmulang Kalteng FC.
