Kyoto City announces 441 successful teacher recruitment candidates

The Kyoto City Board of Education has announced the results of the teacher recruitment selection exams for the 2027 academic year. Out of 1,457 applicants for 450 positions, 441 candidates have been officially offered positions.

Approximately half of the successful candidates, totaling 217 individuals, are new graduates. The selection process included a revised second stage, which replaced group discussions with individual interviews to better identify qualified talent. The overall competition rate stood at 3.1 times the number of first-stage examinees.

Breakdowns by school type show that 170 candidates were selected for junior high schools and 162 for elementary schools. The city also noted that 114 successful candidates came through Kyoto’s unique teacher training system.
