Kyoto City to host migration seminar on used home renovation
Kyoto City will host its third migration seminar of the 2026 fiscal year via Zoom on October 14. Titled “How is it really!? Kyoto City's Used Housing,” the online event focuses on the option of purchasing and renovating older homes rather than solely focusing on new constructions or rentals.
The seminar aims to support individuals considering moving to Kyoto by providing practical insights into living in the city. Featured guests include Masaru Takahashi of Takahashi Masaru Architectural Design Office, who will share his personal experience renovating a used home, and Setsuko Takezono of garDEN Co., Ltd., an architectural professional with extensive experience in residential design and renovation.
Participants will learn about the merits and drawbacks of used housing, the process of finding properties, and design considerations for long-term comfort in Kyoto. The event is free and open to anyone interested in relocation, child-rearing in the region, or dual-location living.
