Kyoto Financial Group to reconstruct headquarters in Kyoto

Kyoto Financial Group (Kyoto FG) has announced plans to reconstruct the Kyoto Bank headquarters building in Kyoto City. The new facility will serve as the central headquarters for the entire group, consolidating various functions and group companies that are currently dispersed across multiple locations.

Designed and constructed by Shimizu Corporation, the new building will consist of eight floors above ground and two floors below ground, with a total floor area of approximately 33,000 square meters. This represents an expansion of about 1.7 times the size of the current 1966 building. The project aims to enhance seismic resistance through a base-isolation structure and is considering ZEB Ready certification to support decarbonization efforts.

The reconstruction process is scheduled to begin with the demolition of the existing building in the spring of 2027, followed by construction in the spring of 2028. The project is expected to be completed during the 2031 fiscal year, with the new headquarters officially opening in the summer of 2032.
