Kyoto hosts major cultural events including Music Expo 2026 and YBA art exhibition

The Kyoto Music Expo 2026, organized by the rock band Kururi, has announced its full lineup of performing artists for its upcoming event at Umekoji Park on October 10 and 11, 2026. The lineup includes ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, indigo la End, Suchmos, milet, and Hayato Sumino Solo & Trio, among others. To mark the 20th anniversary of the festival and the 30th anniversary of Kururi, the event features special initiatives, such as original Goshuin books made from recycled Kyoto kimonos, which are available through hotel ticket packages.

In another cultural development in Kyoto, the Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art is hosting the ‘Tate Museum — YBA & BEYOND’ exhibition, running until September 6. The exhibition showcases approximately 90 works from the Young British Artists (YBA) movement and their contemporaries, highlighting the influential British art scene of the 1990s. Featured works include pieces by Martin Creed and Sheela Gowda, as well as unique installations such as a monochrome receipt from a local Lawson convenience store used in a work by Sheila Fleury.
