Kyoto man arrested for seven years of loud music disturbances
A 61-year-old man, Kazunori Yokoi, has been arrested in Kyoto, Japan, for repeatedly disturbing neighbors with loud music and electric guitar playing for approximately seven years.
Investigators report that Yokoi played his guitar from early morning until late afternoon and kept the radio on throughout the day. Sound levels were recorded between 80 and 90 decibels, a volume comparable to being on board a moving train. The noise reportedly affected four neighbors, aged between 60 and 80, leading to serious health issues including sleep deprivation, depression, and tinnitus.
Despite multiple warnings from police since 2017, the noise continued. Following formal complaints filed this year, authorities executed an arrest and seized 76 items from the residence, including various electric guitars and amplifiers.
