Japanese collegiate and youth sports competitions underway
Various collegiate and youth sports competitions are underway across Japan. In swimming, the Japan Student Swimming Championships saw notable performances from Kyoto-based students, including Ritsumeikan University's Okuzono winning the women's 200m butterfly and Doshisha University's Imafuku competing in the men's 1500m freestyle.
In baseball, Ryukoku University lost its first official match following a one-month suspension due to violence and theft concealment incidents. Meanwhile, in the Kanto-Koshin student baseball league, Hakuoh University secured a shutout victory against Sakushin Gakuin University. In Fukuoka, a large-scale elementary school baseball tournament involving approximately 1,000 participants from 48 teams has commenced.
In American football, Doshisha University suffered a 13-27 defeat against Ritsumeikan University in the opening match of the Kansai Student American Football League Division 1. Additionally, in clay shooting at the National Sports Festival, the Kyoto team reached the podium in the adult skeet team event.
