Kyoto Sanga draws 2-2 with Kawasaki Frontale

Kyoto Sanga F.C. secured their first point under manager Ranko Popovic following a 2-2 draw against Kawasaki Frontale in their second J1 League match on August 15.

After conceding an early goal in the first half, Kyoto responded in the second half. Shinnosuke Fukuda equalized with a mid-range shot, and four minutes later, Rafael Elias scored a header from a Fukuda cross to give Kyoto a temporary lead. However, Kawasaki managed to equalize seven minutes after the turnaround, resulting in a draw.

Following the match, Popovic humorously suggested that his own exuberant celebration after the second goal might have contributed to the team losing focus, jokingly stating, “I might have been the cause of being caught up to. I jumped too high when we scored the second one.” Despite the result, Popovic expressed optimism about the team's progress and direction.
