Kyoto subway anime project celebrates 10 years of crowdfunding
Gyorai Ezo Co., Ltd. will host a commemorative talk event on September 20, 2026, at Campus Plaza Kyoto to mark the 10th anniversary of the “Chikatetsu ni Noru” short anime crowdfunding project.
In 2016, the project successfully raised over 10 million yen through the Makuake platform, with 648 supporters contributing to the production of a short animation intended to promote the Kyoto Municipal Transportation Bureau's subway and bus services. To celebrate the milestone, all 648 original supporters will be invited to the event free of charge, while the general public can attend for a fee of 2,000 yen.
The event will feature discussions regarding the original motivations behind the crowdfunding campaign, the public response at the time, and the evolution of the project over the past decade. Speakers will include Ryota Sano, the anime producer from Gyorai Ezo, and Naoki Isogai, formerly of GK Kyoto, along with Ryosuke Kikuchi from Makuake.
