Kyoto to host Tyrannosaurus costume race to boost regional engagement

Kyoto wo Omoshiroku Suru Co., Ltd. has announced the second annual ‘Tyranno Jamboree in Kyoto Umekoji,’ scheduled for October 18, 2026, at Umekoji Park. The event features participants running and competing in Tyrannosaurus Rex costumes.

Organized primarily by university students with support from local business leaders, the event aims to revitalize the Kyoto region and encourage young graduates to remain or return to the prefecture for employment. Activities include a sprint race, a shouting contest, and various team competitions designed to foster communication through the shared dinosaur theme.

The organizers aim to expand the event to 120 participants this year, following a successful previous iteration that saw 92 participants across various age groups.
