Kyoto to host U-35 International Open Exhibition 2026

The U-35 International Open Exhibition 2026, themed ‘Inheriting the Future’, will be held at Koume-in, a sub-temple of Daitoku-ji in Kyoto. Organized by the Yumeshima New Industry and Urban Creation Organization as part of the 4th Japan International Art Festival, the project aims to connect the creative energy of young artists, designers, architects, and craftsmen with historical and culturally significant spaces.

The exhibition is scheduled to run in two periods: from October 2 to October 24, 2026, and from October 30 to November 29, 2026. The initiative serves as a platform to discover and nurture global talent by facilitating a dialogue between modern creativity and Japanese spiritual and cultural traditions.

The broader Japan International Art Festival seeks to integrate the legacies of the Osaka-Kansai Expo with cultural hubs in Kyoto, creating an international platform for cultural creation that links Japan with the rest of the world.
