Kyoto University of Foreign Studies announces French presentation contest

Kyoto University of Foreign Studies has announced the recruitment of participants for the 8th All Japan Student French Presentation Contest, scheduled to take place on November 28, 2026. Applications for students studying French at universities and junior colleges across Japan will open on September 29.

Unlike traditional speech contests that focus on memorization, this competition emphasizes practical skills, including the use of slides, logical structure, and the ability to handle Q&A sessions in French. To ensure a fair playing field, the contest excludes students with long-term study abroad experience or native-speaking family members, focusing instead on those learning within Japan.

The judging panel is expected to include representatives from the French Embassy in Japan, the Belgian Embassy in Japan, the Quebec Government Office in Japan, and the Kansai French Institute.
