Kyowa Kirin introduces Crysvita pre-filled syringes in Italy
Kyowa Kirin Italia has announced the availability of Crysvita (burosumab) in a pre-filled syringe format for the treatment of X-linked hypophosphatemia (XLH). This new formulation, which became commercially available in Italy as of September 14, 2026, serves as an additional administration option alongside the existing vial-based injectable solution.
XLH is the most common form of hereditary rickets, affecting approximately one in 20,000 people. The condition causes phosphate metabolism issues that lead to bone deformities, pain, short stature, and dental complications in children, as well as bone weakening and joint problems in adults. Research indicates that 97% of adults with XLH report bone or joint pain.
The pre-filled syringes are available in dosages of 10, 20, and 30 mg. Under medical supervision, the treatment can be self-administered by patients or caregivers following appropriate training from a healthcare professional. Patients can contact their local reference centers to determine regional availability and access procedures.
