Kypseli infant murder: Three suspects remanded in custody
Three individuals have been remanded in custody following the discovery of an eight-month-old infant's body in a frozen state within an apartment in Kypseli. The suspects include a 43-year-old Greek man and his 38-year-old German partner, who face charges of intentional homicide, as well as illegal weapons possession and false testimony. A 26-year-old Afghan national has also been detained, facing charges of sexual acts with the couple's 15-year-old pregnant daughter.
Forensic examinations have fundamentally challenged the parents' claims that the infant died of natural causes. The autopsy revealed that the child was healthy and sustained 20 stab wounds, five of which were fatal, caused by what experts believe was a stiletto or large knife rather than a kitchen knife. The injuries, located on the back and waist, caused uncontrolled bleeding and indicate the child was violently assaulted while still alive.
All three suspects were previously in custody for drug trafficking. Additionally, police are investigating potential links to baby trafficking after discovering photos of the father with other infants on his digital devices. The 26-year-old Afghan national claimed ignorance regarding the minor's age, asserting she was introduced to him as a 19-year-old.
