Police in the Kypseli district of Athens have launched a homicide investigation after discovering the frozen body of an infant inside a container in a suitcase. The discovery occurred in a short-term rental apartment on Thasou Street following reports from the property owner regarding unpaid rent and suspected drug use.

Forensic examinations indicate the infant, estimated to be between 8 and 9 months old, sustained approximately 18 knife wounds to the back, with some wounds inflicted while the child was still alive. The body had been kept in a freezer, making it difficult for authorities to determine the exact time of death.

Six individuals were found at the scene: a 43-year-old Greek man, a 38-year-old pregnant German woman, a 15-year-old pregnant girl, an Afghan national identified as the teenager's partner, and two minor boys aged 9 and 12. The minors were hospitalized after testing positive for sexually transmitted diseases, and authorities are investigating potential sexual abuse.

The 43-year-old man has provided conflicting statements, at one point claiming the infant was swapped at the maternity ward and describing the child as “satanized.” He also claimed the household only became quiet after the infant died. The adults face charges related to drug possession and failure to report a death, while the investigation into the homicide continues.
