A 43-year-old man and a 38-year-old German woman are facing serious charges, including intentional homicide, conspiracy, and weapons trafficking, following the discovery of their 9-month-old infant's body in a freezer in Kypseli, Greece.

The defendants deny the murder charges, asserting through their lawyer, Christos Psarras, that the infant died of pathological causes. They claim they attempted to resuscitate the child without success and kept the body in the freezer because they could not bear to part from it. The defense has expressed intent to appoint a technical consultant to challenge forensic findings that identified at least 18 knife wounds, some of which appear to have occurred pre-mortem.

Significant contradictions have emerged in the parents' testimonies, particularly regarding the date of death; the mother claims it occurred in June 2023, while the father maintains it was in 2022. Additionally, a 26-year-old Afghan national is also facing charges for alleged sexual acts with a minor and illegal possession of ammunition.

The three suspects are currently in custody. The other children in the household are reportedly under state protection.
