Kyren Wilson gains Hong Kong residency via talent scheme

British professional snooker player Kyren Wilson has officially become a Hong Kong resident through the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme. Wilson, the 2024 World Snooker Champion, expressed his excitement on social media, stating that Hong Kong is one of his favorite places and that he looks forward to a fulfilling future there.

Wilson’s achievement follows a successful career, including his first professional title at the 2015 Shanghai Masters and his recent world championship victory. Despite recent personal challenges, including family illnesses and a significant burglary at his home in the UK, he has maintained his professional standing.

He joins a growing number of elite athletes utilizing the scheme's ‘Achievement Score System.’ Since 2023, 138 current or retired athletes have been approved to reside in Hong Kong under this program. More than ten professional snooker players have already obtained residency through this pathway.
