Kyrgyz team completes first ascent of Nameless Tower
A Kyrgyz alpine team has completed the first recorded ascent of the Nameless Tower (6,239m) in Pakistan’s Karakoram range. The expedition successfully climbed the iconic ‘Eternal Flame’ route on the tower’s south face.
The team was led by Mikhail Mikhailov and included Mikhail Danichkin, Timur Akbashev, Aidar Akbashev, Zarina Kutanova, and Aleksei Pototsky. The Eternal Flame is considered one of the most celebrated big-wall routes in the Karakoram, originally climbed in September 1989. The route is known for its technical difficulty, combining sustained granite climbing with the high-altitude hazards of a 6,000-meter peak.
