Pakistan and Uzbekistan discuss pharmaceutical joint ventures

A Pakistani business delegation led by Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari visited Uzbekistan's Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency to explore cooperation in pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, healthcare services, research and investment. Uzbekistan officials highlighted a medicines and medical‑device market worth about US$2.5 billion, a portfolio of 32 investment projects and 58 locally certified manufacturers, and the country’s aim to become a regional manufacturing hub.

The agency outlined incentives for foreign investors, including a 15 % corporate income‑tax rate and special economic zones, and offered full facilitation for Pakistani firms interested in joint‑venture manufacturing or new facilities. Both sides emphasized the strategic nature of the partnership and the potential to expand trade between the two nations.
