Kyrgyzstan targets $5 billion trade with Turkey and backs $912 MW Kazarman hydro project

Kyrgyzstan’s ambassador to Turkey, Ruslan Kazakbayev, announced that bilateral trade, which was $1.5 billion last year, is slated to reach $5 billion within two years. The goal is backed by President Sadır Caparov of Kyrgyzstan and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey, and Kazakbayev called on Turkish firms to invest in energy, mining, construction, agriculture and tourism.

Kazakbayev highlighted the Kazarman Hydroelectric Power Plant as a flagship investment. The 912 MW project, awarded to Turkey’s Ihlas Holding through its partner Central Asian Investment Holding, is described as the largest and most strategic energy venture in Kyrgyzstan’s history, aimed at boosting electricity generation, energy independence and the country’s regional standing.
