Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited Kozani to inspect the new wing of the Mamatsio General Hospital. He described the facility as a ‘jewel’ for the region and committed to returning in the coming months to officially inaugurate its operations.

During the visit, Mitsotakis highlighted that the upgrade of the National Health System is a central government priority. He noted that European Recovery Fund resources were utilized to upgrade the hospital's Emergency Department. Additionally, funds from the Just Transition program will be used for the immediate renovation of the hospital's older building.

Further healthcare developments were announced for Western Macedonia, including the creation of a new oncology support unit at Bodossakeio Hospital in Ptolemaida. This initiative aims to provide specialized care locally, reducing the need for patients to travel to Athens or Thessaloniki for oncology treatment.
