Kyriakos Pierrakakis announces relocation of Kavala Customs

Greek Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, has announced the immediate relocation of the Kavala Customs office. The facility will move from the ‘Apostolos Pavlos’ passenger port to the administration building of the Industrial Park in Nea Karvali.

The decision addresses a long-standing demand from the local community to alleviate traffic congestion. Currently, heavy goods vehicles transporting goods from Central Europe and Istanbul must pass through the urban center of Kavala to reach the passenger port for inspections and customs clearance. This transit causes significant disruption to city traffic, particularly during the summer tourist season when congestion is highest.

The announcement was made during an open meeting with local stakeholders and productive sectors at the Kavala Chamber of Commerce. During his visit to Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Pierrakakis also met with agricultural representatives in Chrysochori to discuss financial tools and labor shortages in the region.
