Kyrtsos alleges political and business entanglement in Greece
Former MEP Giorgos Kyrtsos has issued sharp allegations against Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Bank of Greece Governor Ioannis Stournaras, describing a “civil war of entanglement” within the Greek political and economic systems.
Kyrtsos claims there is a complex network of interests involving the Prime Minister and businessman Alexandros Exarchou. He alleges that this relationship influences major public works, energy projects, and the media landscape. Specifically, Kyrtsos points to the management of state enterprises and the influence of private investors in the restructuring of the banking sector, noting that control over entities like CrediaBank appears to reside with investors linked to Exarchou.
In response to recent rumors regarding a large company that could pose a systemic risk due to over-indebtedness, Stournaras has dismissed such information as “fake news.” However, Kyrtsos warns of a “speculative bubble” involving political and business cartels that threatens to destabilize the national system.
