KYS student group demands better hostel facilities in Delhi

The student organization Krantikari Yuva Sangathan (KYS), alongside students from Jesus and Mary College, has submitted a memorandum to college principal Molly K. demanding improved hostel facilities for outstation students.

The campaign follows the Satya Niketan building collapse on September 6, which resulted in seven deaths. KYS argues that the lack of on-campus housing forces students into unsafe rented accommodations and paying-guest housing, where they face potential harassment and exploitation, particularly women students.

During meetings with the principal, students also raised concerns regarding the use of CCTV surveillance in classrooms to monitor women, describing the practice as unprecedented and condemnable. Following the meeting at Jesus and Mary College, the delegation also met with Maitreyi College Principal Haritma Chopra to submit a similar memorandum.
