PS5 emulator KytyPS5 achieves playable GTA V performance on PC
The development of PlayStation 5 emulation for PC is accelerating rapidly. The KytyPS5 emulator has achieved a significant milestone by successfully running the prologue of Grand Theft Auto V at between 40 and 60 FPS on high-end hardware, such as systems equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Radeon RX 7900 XT.
While the current performance is not yet stable for full open-world gameplay—with frame rates dropping below 15 FPS in some areas and experiencing crashes—the progress from merely booting menus in July to running 3D gameplay in just a few months is unprecedented. This rapid advancement has fueled speculation regarding the potential for Grand Theft Auto VI to be playable via emulation on PC before its official Rockstar Games release.
Additionally, industry reports suggest Rockstar Games may reconsider its historical delay of PC releases. Market pressures, including potential console shortages due to high demand for GTA VI and fluctuations in the global memory market affecting hardware costs, may prompt the company to release the PC version of GTA VI sooner than previously expected.
