Kyumei Byoto 24-ji returns with Yosuke Eguchi and Nanako Matsushima
The medical drama series ‘Kyumei Byoto 24-ji’ (ER 24 Hours) is returning for its sixth season after a 13-year hiatus. The new installment is scheduled to premiere on Fuji TV’s ‘Getsu 9’ time slot starting October 12.
Actors Yosuke Eguchi and Nanako Matsushima will co-star in a double lead role, marking their first collaboration in approximately 16 years since the 2010 special drama. Eguchi will reprise his role as the genius emergency physician Issei Shindo, while Matsushima returns as Kaede Kojima.
The upcoming series aims to explore modern medical challenges, including work-style reforms, generational differences between veteran and younger doctors, and the ethical dilemmas surrounding life-saving technology in an aging society. The production marks a significant milestone for the franchise, which has produced five previous series and five specials since its debut in 1999.
