Kyumei Byoto 24-ji revival announces new cast members

Fuji TV has announced the new cast for the sixth season of the medical drama series ‘Kyumei Byoto 24-ji’ (ER 24 Hours), which is set to premiere on October 12. The series marks a return to the franchise after a 13-year hiatus since its fifth installment in 2013.

Yosuke Eguchi and Nanako Matsushima will reprise their leading roles as Issei Shindo and Kaede Kojima, respectively, reuniting for the first time in 16 years. The new season aims to explore themes relevant to the modern era, including work-style reforms, generational differences, and the ethics of life-and-death decisions in medicine.

Joining the veteran leads are Taisei Kido, Riku Hagiwara, and Sei Shiraishi, who will portray young doctors. Kido will play Ren Miyazawa, a highly capable but solitary second-year resident. Hagiwara will portray Tomoya Amano, a resident from a medical family who lacks professional ambition, while Shiraishi will play Ami Hiiragi, a resident focused on building a social media presence as a ‘doctor influencer’ while seeking a balanced lifestyle.
