Kyungbok University to open Gyeonggi Northern AID Hub Center

Kyungbok University will officially open the ‘Gyeonggi Northern AID (AI+Digital) Hub Center’ at its Namyangju Campus on October 7. This follows the university's selection as the sole hub university in the metropolitan area for the ‘2026 AID Transformation Focused Junior College Support Project,’ organized by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

The center aims to establish a digital transformation (DX) education hub for the northern Gyeonggi region. Key programs include intelligent business process automation, designed to help students understand job workflows and coordinate them using artificial intelligence. The university plans to integrate AI technology into various majors, including nursing, health, design, video media, architecture, and service sectors, to cultivate field-ready talent.

To certify competencies, the university is implementing a digital badge system recognized by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK). These badges are categorized into four levels: Fundamental, General, Integrated, and Advanced. Additionally, the university has implemented a smart campus environment featuring 24-hour AI chatbots for admissions guidance and administrative regulations.
