Kyungpook National University selected for robotics graduate school project

Kyungpook National University has been selected for the government’s ‘Advanced Industry Specialized Graduate School Support Project’ in the field of robotics. The university will invest a total of 17.2 billion KRW over five years, consisting of 15 billion KRW in national funds and 2.2 billion KRW in matching funds from corporations and the university.

Through this project, the university plans to reorganize its Department of Mechanical Engineering into a Department of Mechanical and Robot Engineering. The initiative aims to establish a convergence curriculum covering robot hardware, software, and Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX) to cultivate master’s and doctoral-level experts.

A consortium of 25 robotics-related companies, including six major local large and medium-sized enterprises, will participate in joint education and research. Additionally, the university will collaborate with international institutions such as UCLA, Purdue University, the University of Utah, and San Diego State University for international joint research and talent development.
