Kyushu National Museum to host cultural preservation event
The Kyushu National Museum will host a tour and talk event on October 25, 2026, focused on the significance of cultural property preservation. Organized by Meiji Sangyo Co., Ltd. in collaboration with the museum and Sanseisha, the program includes a limited facility tour of the museum’s backend infrastructure, such as its earthquake-resistant seismic isolation systems and earth-tube climate control.
The afternoon session features a guest talk by historian Tatsushi Fujiwara, a professor at Kyoto University. The discussion, titled “Thinking about Cultural Property Preservation from the Perspective of ‘Decomposition’,” will involve a dialogue between Fujiwara and the museum’s Deputy Director, Koizumi Yoshihide, exploring how cultural assets can be integrated into dynamic historical processes rather than just being stored as static materials.
