Kyustendil celebrates spiritual holiday and Panagia bread forum

The city of Kyustendil is celebrating its spiritual holiday, the Dormition of the Mother of God, through the 19th edition of the cultural forum ‘Panagia – Exaltation of Bread’. The event features a variety of traditional activities, including exhibitions of ritual breads, ethnographic performances, and workshops dedicated to bread-making and folk customs.

Patriarch Daniil, the Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia, led the holy liturgy at the ‘Dormition of the Mother of God’ temple. The festivities include a solemn water blessing and the consecration of festive breads at Velbazhd Square. Following a decision by the Municipal Council, August 15 has been declared an official holiday within the Kyustendil municipality.
