Kyverna Therapeutics reports promising CAR-T results for Stiff Person Syndrome

Clinical trial results for an experimental treatment developed by Kyverna Therapeutics have shown positive outcomes for patients suffering from Stiff Person Syndrome. The advanced cellular therapy, known as miv-cale (mivocaptagene autoleucel), utilizes genetically modified CAR-T cell technology to target autoimmune disorders affecting the neuromuscular system.

According to study lead Dr. Amanda Picke of the University of Colorado, the treatment contributed to improved walking ability, movement, and stabilized stiffness symptoms for a full year following administration, with a good level of tolerability. Detailed data from the trial is expected to be presented at a joint US-European MS research conference in Toronto.

In a separate clinical trial presented at the American Academy of Neurology and Neuromuscular Disorders annual meeting, the same therapy also showed significant improvement in patients with generalized myasthenia gravis, enhancing their ability to perform daily activities. While these results are encouraging for treating autoimmune diseases, the therapy remains in the experimental stage and requires further long-term safety and efficacy evaluations.
