KZ-5 wins 12 Metre Grand Prix World Championship in Imperia

The yacht KZ-5, representing the Yacht Club Italiano, has secured the 12 Metre Grand Prix World Championship in Imperia. The victory was clinched with two races remaining in the competition.

Led by helmsman Pietro D’Alì, with Flavio Favini on tactics and Tiziano Nava as skipper and mainsail trimmer, the crew demonstrated dominance across varying weather conditions. Their performance included five first-place finishes and one second-place finish.

During the decisive race, KZ-5 maintained control despite shifting winds and decreasing pressure. The boat's speed allowed it to pull ahead of rivals Kookaburra II and Kookaburra III. D’Alì noted that while the boat was exceptionally fast, the diverse sailing conditions in Imperia required precision to avoid errors.
